Janet S. Willy

Deputy Director


Education: Jan received her A.B. in English and Psychology from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Georgia. She is admitted to practice before all Georgia courts.

Legal Employment: Jan began her legal career as an Associate with a law firm in Washington, DC. She returned to Georgia to accept a Superior Court clerkship, then practiced indigent criminal defense for several years before joining FCCD’s Superior Court Division in 1997. She has represented clients at every stage of formal criminal proceedings, from initial appearance through appeal, with the vast majority of cases arising in Superior Court.

Current Assignment: Jan currently represents clients appearing before the Hon. Wendy L. Shoob in Fulton County Superior Court; participates in the supervision and administration of all FCCD Divisions; and administers FCCD’s law intern program.

Jan has spoken at ICLE seminars on indigent defense topics, and represented FCCD at county and state committees concerned with delivery of quality indigent defense services.
